University of Mary Washington - People for the Rights of Sexual Minorities
PRISM promotes visibility and education for gender and sexual minorities on the UMW campus. We provide a safe space where anyone in the community, GSM or ally, can come and meet like-minded people, learn about issues facing the community, and have a good time.
Meetings are on Mondays at 9 PM in the Red Room in Woodard Campus Center.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
The Swedish legal requirement that people who want to officially change their sex with the government must be be sterilized first. The law also forbids the freezing of sperm or eggs before corrective surgery, which effectively means transgender Swedes are barred from having biological children.
“Compulsory sterilization” has been quietly practiced for decades in countries typically cast as progressive on LGBT rights: France, the Netherlands, Australia, and a number of U.S. states still require it. Italy and Germany have just recently overturned similar legislation.
These are relatively progressive countries, especially the Netherlands and Sweden. I’m now sad to say I’m part Swedish, French, Dutch and German. This is just ridiculous legislation.
Whaaatt the fuuuckk

You’d think that we wouldn’t revert back to the laws of WW2 Nazi Germany but I guess some people are still bigots
I am having difficulty finding the states that require it. If anyone finds which ones, please let me know. I want to...
what the mother fuck?
whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
oh goodie. another fucked up thing.
How abrasive can others be? ‘your body is MY business and the government’s business.’
Eugenics is alive and well, in case anyone needed some additional evidence.
^^yea i can’t even believe this
This is completely unacceptable. Disgusting breach of Human Rights, can’t believe it’s been going on for 10 years.
holy shit Sweden? WTF? I USUALLY LOVE YOU… BUT NOT RIGHT NOW!!
Their reasoning? Because they’re already threatening “traditional gender roles” and shouldn’t be teaching that to...
It surprises me that Sweden and several other countries on that list have such a law/requirement. Sad panda.
Yeah… that’s one of the definite things I do not like about the country I moved to.
See? Another institutionalized injustice. FUCK THAT. OCCUPY WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS?!!!!
