University of Mary Washington - People for the Rights of Sexual Minorities
PRISM promotes visibility and education for gender and sexual minorities on the UMW campus. We provide a safe space where anyone in the community, GSM or ally, can come and meet like-minded people, learn about issues facing the community, and have a good time.
Meetings are on Mondays at 9 PM in the Red Room in Woodard Campus Center.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a pretty significant American tradition, had a performance by the cast of the Broadway show Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. An excerpt from Wikipedia about the show:

Adapted from Elliott’s 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the musical tells the story of two drag queens and a transexual, who contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a resort town in the remote Australian desert. As they head west from Sydney aboard their lavender bus, Priscilla, the three friends come to the forefront of a comedy of errors, encountering a number of strange characters, as well as incidents of homophobia, while widening comfort zones and finding new horizons but also those that are lost.

The performance at Herald Square included a fabulous plethora of drag queens, sequins, feathers, and a trans woman*! Yay America!
*The actor who portrays the trans woman is not transgender himself, it should be noted.
